Reports: Woman Beheaded In Back Garden

A man has been arrested after a woman was found beheaded in a back garden in north London, according to reports.

The victim was found at an address in Nightingale Road, Edmonton just after 1pm.

Scotland Yard gave few details but said that a man is in custody.

It is not known what weapon was used.

The force said: "Police were called to an address in Nightingale Road at 13.07pm today to reports of a stabbing incident.

"On arrival officers discovered a female collapsed in a garden area.

"A man has been detained and remains in custody.

"At this very early stage we are not in a position to give further details."

Witnesses reported seeing a man running around the area as police arrived on the street.

Ambulance crews and an air ambulance were called but it is understood the victim died at the scene.

Detectives said it was too early to speculate on a motive but that there is no suggestion that the killing had anything to do with terrorism.

The Metropolitan Police tweeted that they have not yet spoken to the woman's next of kin.

"We are not prepared to comment on the exact nature of the woman's injuries," they said.
