A 20-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating a hit-and-run murder in Kent.
John O'Donohue, 33, was left critically injured after a stolen Ford Mondeo was driven into him in Castlemaine Avenue, Gillingham, at around 8.50pm on Thursday.
Officers said he had been walking with a friend after an argument with two men in the car.
His friend, who has not been named, escaped unharmed and ran to raise the alarm at a nearby badminton club.
Mr O'Donohue, from Gillingham, was left trapped underneath the vehicle. He died from his injuries in a London hospital on Friday afternoon.
His mother Maise O'Donohue said in a statement: "John was a gentle giant who lived for his children. He was a loving father, son and grandchild and was a family man first and foremost."
A spokesman for Kent Police said the car was used as a weapon and they are treating it as a murder case.
"Detectives working on the investigation have today arrested a 20-year-old man from Rochester on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug and affray," he said.
"He remains in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries into the incident.
"The investigation continues and officers would still like to hear from anyone who has not yet come forward with information."
