Police and the Coastguard are searching for two boys who have gone missing on a popular tourist beach on the Isle of Wight.
The boys, aged six and eight, were reported missing after they were last seen on the seafront at Ryde this lunchtime.
Police are helping the Coastguard with the searchA Hampshire police spokesman said the force was alerted at 1.21pm by Solent Coastguard and said the boys were last seen near local landmark Appley Tower.
He added the force was helping the Coastguard with searches.
The boys went missing at around lunchtime on MondayThe Marine and Coastguard Agency spokeswoman said: "They were last seen near to Appley Town on Ryde beach at about 12pm and they were reported missing by their parents a short while later.
"We have a Coastguard rescue team, helicopter and lifeboat involved in the search. If anyone sees them, please call and notify the police."
The boys had been at Ryde seafrontThe six-year-old boy has dark brown hair, pale skin, dark brown eyes and the eight-year-old has a mole on his left shoulder.
Henrietta Creasey, from local radio station Spire FM, said: "It's quite a wide beach with a lot of sandbanks, and I guess the danger is that these two young children might have walked out onto the sandbanks and possibly have got cut off."
