Dorries: Stop Harassing Me Or I'll Call Police

Nadine Dorries has threatened to call the police after claiming she is being harassed by newspaper journalists.

The MP was suspended from the Tory party after leaving her Mid Bedfordshire constituency to take part in I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! in Australia.

The rift between the high-profile MP and party chiefs has been the subject of significant media coverage – now Ms Dorries says she has had enough.

"If another red top journalist visits my home, members of my family, their homes or my office I will inform the police," she wrote on Twitter. "This is harassment."

In another post she wrote: "If any journalists turn up at my surgery tomorrow the same applies – you are hindering my staff and constituents."

One follower replied, saying she had "asked for this sort of attention" by raising her public profile on the reality show.

But she replied: "Not true. There are boundaries of appropriate behaviour which cross over into harassment."

Responding to another user who accused her of wanting "publicity on her own terms", she wrote: "Publicity is one thing, harassment another. My family members should not be harassed."

Earlier this week Ms Dorries told Sky News she enjoys being an independent politician after having the Conservative whip suspended.

The outspoken politician insisted she would be allowed back into the Tory Party, but she also claimed she was revelling in her new-found freedom.

There had been speculation that Ms Dorries could leave the party and stand for UKIP at the next general election.

But she told Sky News' Murnaghan show: "I am quite sure, confident, that I should get the whip back very shortly."
